UKATA Asbestos Awareness Training

This course is designed for anyone who could come into contact with materials containing asbestos as part of their day to day working duties. Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012) puts a requirement on employers to ensure that their staff have undergone suitable asbestos training so that they are aware of the potential dangers they may face and also the procedures they must follow in the event they are working in the vicinity of asbestos containing materials. (ACMs)

Course Objective:
- The UKATA asbestos awareness training course, held at our Glasgow training facility is designed to:
- Instruct trainees how to identify asbestos.
- Understand the health hazards of asbestos.
- Give candidates awareness of where asbestos can be found and the CAR 2012 regulations.
- How to meet the legal duty to manage asbestos containing materials.
- You will understand the way in which asbestos can damage your health, and be aware of where asbestos can be found.

Course Content:
- The effects on health of asbestos and it's properties.
- The uses, types and likely occurrence of asbestos containing materials and asbestos in buildings and plants.
- Emergency procedures in the event of the uncontrolled release of asbestos dust in the workplace.
- The risks of asbestos and how to avoid them.

Course Method:
Instruction in theory sessions

Certification:
UKATA registered training provider certificate - valid for one year.

Course Duration:
Half day

Trainer to Delegate Ratio:
One trainer to twelve delegates

Refresher Training:
Refresher training should be given at least every year and should be appropriate to the role undertaken. Training Plus provides UKATA registered trainers.
